I met the Monkey while hanging out at Baen Books website - at Baen's Bar, where Dave was not infrequently engaged in being rude to his co-author Eric Flint. This is a common and sensible practice in any good working relationship. I live in northwestern Pennsylvania -- which is a long way from South Africa, but the Internet shrinks the world. So when Dave asked me to help him with his website I couldn't think of anywhere to hide.

I admire his books. The covers are great and they are just the right thickness to prop up the ricketty leg of my desk. What? You say there's writing in them too? Well, you don't expect me to look on the inside, do you? The man calls himself the Monkey after all.

I'm a writer and a film student.  I write the sort of stuff that most people say rots your brain (no, not political speeches).

That should more than suffice my obligation to include information about myself. I think Dave sees this as some sort of penance for some wrong I've done him in the past. If I'm correct, this information will probably stay up here as long as I keep wronging him. . .which isn't likely to end soon. :-)
